I really had no idea what I was trying to draw at first. Then both objects were something that were an obstacle. "You might feel trapped but there is always a way to get out",

This is a Will Smith Portrait, Chuck Close Style. This was difficult because I don't know how to do shading with pastels. It took me a week of class to draw and had the colors into it. There was a lot of empty white spots is still had to fill in. The teacher taught all the students a new technique with baby oil. We were able to spread the color to fill it in and got darker. It also helped with the shading on his face.

When/why did you start?
in college, she took a painting class and liked it.


Why did you choose to be an art teacher?
Because she could and she likes working with kids.


What type of art are you most into?
Photorealism


What is the best part of being an  art teacher?
seeing all the amazing art the students make and it inspires her


If you could go back in time would you do anything different?
No because she is a professional artist and loves her job


Did you have any challenges in your career?
yes, when she went through the turn around process and was fired and had to reapply to get her job back


What's your favorite thing you have ever created?
her kids charcoal portraits


What is your favorite piece of art someone else has created?
she loves all art


Did you have difficulty choosing what you wanted to learn while in college?
yes because she never found anything that had clicked other than art.


Do you have any advice for people entering the art education profession?
Be open minded.

                          "Every child is an artist... The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up" - Pablo Picasso. Art is any activity or product made by humans in a visual form for aesthetical or communicative purposes, expressing ideas, emotions, or in general a world view. Art is important to me because I can draw my emotions anyway I want. it might help someone else understand the way I feel because you cant find the words to explain your emotions.
                          What I need to understand about this topic is the techniques I can use to paint or color a drawing. I know I can change the lighting of the color adding other colors with it. I just need help how I can paint it  on paper from dark to light. other than that my drawings with shading come out really good.
                          Some books that I need will be "Coloring Animal Mandalas" because it would help me choose what colors to use. I could probably find another good book at Michaels or any other  art store. I could even use Google on the internet if I don't have enough money to buy the book. the expert I will interview is my art teacher Ms. McPeak. she is an expert because she has painted for a very long time.
                        What I will show during the blog after the research is some of my colored paintings. I will also tell you how I was able to improve my way of coloring. this project is valuable because I already know a bit of techniques and have my teacher guide me through it. This will be successful.

"Tick" drawing is a very graphic style of hatching, consisting of very short parallel strokes or “ticks.” Because the marks are so small and short, you can almost pile them on top of one another to create density, without worrying about crosshatching. This style often works best with a thicker pen to increase the graphic quality.

This one is called Wrapped Animals. I added a little extra in the background so it wouldn't look as empty. The way to do this one is to follow these steps:

1) Select an animal portrait.

2) Complete a light line drawing that is accurate and uses up at least ¾’s of the paper surface.

3) After viewing the slides of this project (anchor set/best practices), begin drawing in the contour lines that will be used as guides for your wrapping. Make it a weaving type style/pattern . The "wrapping" should vary in length and width. This should be done to both create contrast in the weaving as well as work with the patterns of dark and light in your original image.

4) Once all the pencil work is completed, carefully go over the lines with pen and ink. Fill in the negative spaces with ink.

5) Begin shading the wrapping with your pencil. Think of how the light would work with the bottom, middle and top wrapping. But be careful to not smear your work.

6) Complete your drawing by completing lifelike eyes and possibly teeth
